EQUITY RESOURCES

The Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger offers the following resources to ensure organizations have a framework and peer support for implementing equity within their daily practices, policies, and procedures.

Equity Challenge & Learning Series

Join us for our Equity Challenge! Consultant Vaishnavi Hariprasad will guide organizations through a one-year equity challenge to help kickstart their equity journey through May 2024.

The bi-monthly peer learning sessions cover different topics, with a focus on how organizations are implementing the Blueprint’s Equity Continuum — and how organizations can start or continue their own equity journey.

Sessions are open to all in the Blueprint network, and you’re welcome to attend live or access resources later whenever it’s convenient for you.

Have questions as your organization kickstarts or continues its equity journey? Join Vaish for open office hours on Zoom during the “off” months to help you with your organization’s equity challenges, questions, and needs!

Session #1: Formulating an Equity Strategy

During the first session held in June 2023, we covered how to formulate a plan for a yearly equity goal or strategy plan, based on the Blueprint’s Equity Continuum. We shared a few organizations, each in a different phase of their equity journey ranging from assessing readiness to identifying strategy, etc., to provide participants with an array of examples that roughly follows the steps outlined below.

Step 1: Determine your why — Understand your organization's and community's motivations for equity work.

Step 2: Assess readiness — Identify where you see readiness in your organization.

Step 3: Develop your strategy — Identify areas where your organization is already leaning into equity and opportunities for improvement.

Step 4: Assess inputs and set your goals — Evaluate the resources available (like staff and volunteer time, financial resources, etc.) and establish short-, medium-, and long-term goals.

Step 5: Draft an equity strategy for the year — Create a concrete plan that outlines your organization's actions and commitments.
