Question: I see the due date stating March 25th, and another that states Tuesday (March 31st), I wanted to be sure we are okay to participate and it's not too late.

Answer: Thank you for letting us know about the typo on our website-sincere apologies for the confusion! This week’s grant cycle ended on Wednesday March 25th and we are in the  process of reviewing proposals. We received an overwhelming response so we are re-evaluating our criteria and funding cycle timeline. We will post the new criteria and funding cycle timeline by next Tuesday, March 31st. You may still submit an application to be considered in the next grant cycle, but it will be reviewed under the new criteria.

Question: My supervisor just passed the application for the Colorado COVID-19 Emergency Hunger Relief Fund along to me. Unfortunately, I see that the application deadline was yesterday at 5pm. I noticed that it said that was the deadline to be considered for the first round of funding. I am wondering if there may be a possibility of further opportunities to apply?

Answer: We have closed the first cycle as of Wednesday at 5pm, but your organization may still apply. We received an overwhelming response and number of applications this week, so I do want to let you know that we are in the process of revising the decision criteria and funding timeline. We will be posting the new decision criteria early next week along with the new closing date for applications.

Question: Our organization has not previously played a significant role in food distribution, but now our community is looking to us to fill this need. Can funding be used to grow the capacity of our organization to provide food to our community? For example to purchase a fridge?

Answer: Proposals may be submitted that focus on increasing the capacity of an organization to meet the food access and nutritional needs of a community. The list provided in the RFA is not a complete list, but a list of some examples.

Question: I just submitted an application and did not see a confirmation email. Wanted to confirm that our application was received?

Answer: Since we are using google forms, we are unfortunately unable to send out automatic confirmation emails. Once you submit there will be a confirmation page that appears stating that your application has been received. We will also be sending out confirmation emails each day by 5 p.m. with confirmation that we received your application.

Question: Our organization was invited to apply for the No Kid Hungry funding opportunity, so we are currently writing the application for that. Is this Emergency Hunger Relief Fund a different opportunity or the same one? There is some confusion as one of the links on your email sends us to the No Kid Hungry website. Any clarification is appreciated.

Answer: The link in our newsletter from last week was to the No Kid Hungry website. The link in the newsletter sent out this morning is to the Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger website, and it is a different grant opportunity than the No Kid Hungry funding opportunity. You may definitely apply to both.

Question: I wanted to know if you serve multiple counties outside of the Denver-Metro area, can you still apply for this funding support during this time?

Answer: Absolutely. Funding is available statewide. The reason we call out Denver is because a portion of our funding is specific to the Denver Metro area (because of funder requirements), so we just need to know which funding stream we can use to provide the grants.

Question: Just confirming grocery retailers are eligible to apply? And this is statewide, yes? Saw Denver Healthy Kids was a large funder so wasn’t sure if more focus was being placed on the Denver area for funding.

Answer: The opportunity is available statewide. Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids is participating, so there is some funding that needs to be directed specifically to Denver, but the rest of the fund can be used without geographic restrictions. And yes, for-profit entities are eligible to apply.
