WORKGROUPS & PROJECT TEAMS

To achieve the goals and strategies of the Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger, organizations and individuals have joined workgroups based on their areas of expertise and/or interests. These workgroups align with the stated Blueprint goals.

Anyone is welcome to join and participate in one or more of these workgroups!

As part of our commitment to equity, all Blueprint meetings and activities are hosted in both English and Spanish, and closed captioning is offered. Building Public & Political Will to End Hunger (Workgroup 1)

Goal 1: Increase public understanding and awareness that solving hunger is vital to the health and well-being of all individuals and families, the Colorado economy and every local community.

Guiding Star: Move from a Colorado culture focused on individual conditions to one of community responsibility and support to end the systemic issue of hunger, resulting in everyone, regardless of social identities or personal characteristics, having access to culturally responsible food without stigma.

Ensuring Access to Healthy Food in Colorado Communities (Workgroup 2 & 3)

Goal 2: Increase the number of Coloradans who can access affordable, nutritious food in the communities

Goal 3: Increase the number of Coloradans who can access food assistance and nutritious food through community-based organizations

Guiding Star: We are working towards a Colorado with an interconnected and coordinated food system that creates a welcoming and safe environment for families and communities to share healthy food together. In this new place, food is healthy and affordable and food access is equitable and easy.

Increasing Enrollment in SNAP & WIC (Workgroup 4)

Goal: Increase Colorado WIC and SNAP enrollment percentages to be greater than or equal to national averages for the same measures.

Guiding Star: We are working towards a process for WIC and SNAP in Colorado that is client-centered FOR ALL. The process is easy, responsible, equitable, and stigma-free. Clients, county workers, and other staff are happy people who have smiles on their faces.

Increasing Access to Child Nutrition Programs (Workgroup 5)

Goal 5: Maximize participation in federal child nutrition programs, making Colorado a national leader in delivering these vital programs.

Guiding Star: Move to a Colorado where all children have equitable, stigma-free, geographically convenient, regular (all day, year-round) access to healthy food and adequate time to eat it.
